Lily St. Regis

Costume construction project from a preexisting design:

‘Lily st Regis’

for the Annie musical.

Initial breakdown:

Rough construction sketches and notes
Early moodboard and rough aesthetic references

Toiles and pattern drafting:

All patterns were drafted using basic blocks and adapting them accordingly. The skirt is an adapted circle skirt pattern.

  • Early toiles
  • Sleeve and skirt toiles

Fabric Dyeing:

  • Testing colors on a variety of fabrics
  • Narrowing down samples

Dye process:

Approx. 25hrs taken to hand paint 15 meters of Crepe de Chine

  • Purple triangles were painted first.
  • Next blue lines filled in more space
  • Any empty space was filled in with yellow, and finally pink and orange were added as accents/details

Construction details:

  • Delicate hand rolled hem on front ruffles
  • French seams
  • Machine rolled hem with white thread detailing
  • Hand worked buttonhole
  • Hand woven belt loop
