L’amour de Loin

Conceptual costume design project with realization of a single costume piece.

“L’amour de Loin” translates to
“Love from Afar”.
The original setting is in the 12th century, moving between Aquitaine, Tripoli, and the sea.

To help the audience connect more with the content of the opera, we changed the setting to the 1960’s.

Costume Construction Process:

The project was put on display in the Linbury Gallery at Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff.

The final fabric for the dress was a wool crepe, with dark blue lining.
